Senior Promenade 2005 - Masquerade
A night of glamour and glitz. The final event of a college student's academic calendar(not-so-academic actually).
i'd say nobody really dressed up to the theme of masquerade, but the meaning is reflected in most of my j2 batchmates who attended prom. every 1 in 2 persons that i know suddenly seems like somebody i've never knew before - a complete makeover!
the prom programme was rather predictable...well, any member of the 31st would agree. the do's and don'ts have been introduced to us a year ago, and we still look longingly at the delicious food. just too bad that the opportunity cost of taking nice pictures with nice people in nice outfit in a nice hotel far outweigh that of just merely enjoying the nice food. economics is alive even on the last day of your jc life huh?
our emcee was rico and the program for the night went on without any major glitch. i think my junior charmaine did a GREAT job too, along with the other 32nd promco, not forgetting my mortal monica! well, it will always dawn upon any councillor that no matter how hard you try to make the program fun or interesting, the extent of its actual magnitude of satisfaction hinges on the willingness to participate and enjoy what's set before you. or else make your own fun and savour all that night has to offer.
post-prom at indochine was quite an experience itself too. the in-house music was superb. they even played my favorite linkin park tracks! i made a few conclusions while at the club
1. indian music, especially bhangra, is the best at getting you to shake your bon bon.
2. a little alcohol warms you up for a whacky dance session
3. more alcohol will make you spill your deepest, darkest secrets, and also promote cranky jokes or remarks
4. i think i have high tolerance for alcohol. must be the previous trials with jim beam. several cups of vodka are just enough to get my feet tapping.
i thought about many things while at indochine. there was the realisation that asean dance could simply be clubbing for the desperate underaged. it's really similar minus the fact that the music is less funky than in an actual club. i just couldn't imagine if ever all those younger kids behave like how college-graduates can possibly act while dancing the night away. i wonder how'd indochine be like with the slow dancxe music at aseandance. hAHA.
there was also the constant reminding of self to not "go too far" in dancing and drinking. know my limits. shouldn't be doing all these in the first place but well, it's always the 'just for the experience' excuse.
so much for prom. a very expensive one-night affair.
rushed to golden mile the next morning when everyone in ritz carlton room 2119 was still snoring away. was lucky to purchase my ticket back home. then, returned to my messy room for the last time to finish my pack-up. download all my anime and manga..use my broadband internet for the last time. still have yet to terminate it. i still have to keep my things in hcibs, argghhh... that means another trip to bring back luggage. learnt some hidden truths today too.
once i crossed the singapore-johor border, and my Digi number is back online. i got my first sms from hc.
"welcome home" =)
